2009 was the second year Saskaton Riversdale Kiwanis Baseball brought Coach Grumpy out to Saskatoon for a weekend baseball skills clinic.    Great instruction, intense and fun are the words that both the kids and parents used to describe the experience.     Well worth while!!!

My name is Larry Park, Coach & Player Cooridinator for Coquitlam Little League. I have been involved with Coquitlam Little League for the past 6 years.
I have known and have had nothing but positive dealings with Pat Phelan over those 6 years.
Pat is an alumni of our league. That is not the only reason we as a league use Pat for his vast knowledge of baseball.
We used Pat for conducting our Coaching Clinics for our entire league. That includes blastball right through to Big League.
Pat has a great way in communicating with the players and Coaches. He ensures that the players learn and have a great time doing so.
Pat gave his time working with our 2008 13/14 Junior Canadian National Championship Team. Pat instructed the players on every aspect of the game. Pat also gave extra time for our catcher. It turned out to be a major factor in his play in that Tournament !
Pat also volunteered for our skills competition for that tournament.
Pat has also worked with our post season teams 9/10, 11/12 selects, 11/12 Majors.
I asked Pat when I was in Oliver in July / 09 if he would be interested in hosting the skills competition for the 2009 11/12 Majors Provinicals ? He replied without any hesitation " yes, love to"
If you as a league or as an individual is interested on taking your game play to the next level call Pat.
Pat will set up a program designed for yourself or your league.
Thanks Pat for your years of service and our post season accomplishments !

Thank you,

Coach Grumpy,

I just want to thank you for the time that we spent together at the big league experience in Oliver. You quickly developed a relationship with all of our players and coaching staff and helped us all appreciate and respect the great game of baseball. Your positive coaching style and influence almost immediately made us a better ball club at all levels and for that I am grateful.

It was a pleasure to share a ball field with you and I would like you to know that even though the Big League Experience is long over we regularly use you as a reference in our practices and games to put a smile on, work hard and stay positive.

Thanks again Grumpy for all that you have done for me as a coach and for my team. You will never be forgotten and I hope that we can create an opportunity in the future to develop a long term relationship.

Cheers,

My Testimonial:

The experience that our team had with Coach Grumpy was fantastic. Great instruction, Great Feedback and a Great Connection. This Grumpy old coach went out of his way to show up at a game we had in the Valley just to come and see the kids one more time. The kids were ecstatic to see Grumpy and the best part was the kids were using the tools Grumpy gave to them, not so Grumpy after allJ just a great instructor.  From our team to you Grumpy Thank you and we loved every minute of it and we can’t wait to do it all again!

Our daughter Grace first met Coach Grumpy when she was 7 years old through the Grounders Program in Ottawa. We entered this huge warehouse, she was the only girl as usual all of a sudden we hear this bellowing and yelling of “Don’t look at your mother, hit the ball!” To all of our surprise we instantly adored him and thought he was the funniest man on the planet. This attraction to his humour quickly turned to respect for his amazing gift to engage players. Grace learned many baseball skills but more importantly she learned about respecting and loving the game. Coach Grumpy is the reason our daughter has become the player and athlete she is today, scholarship bound and still loving every time she steps on the field. Thanks!

It was our good fortune to meet Pat Phelan at the Big League Experience Camp in Oliver in 2008.  Our 2 sons had the opportunity to train with Grump who reinforced in them the importance of hard work, respect and love for the game. Upon meeting him for the first time Coach Grumpy’s knowledge and passion for baseball cast such a positive shadow, (not to mention his exuberant persona on and off the field) we confidently recommended his services to our executive and ultimately hired him to manage our Player Development Program in 2008/2009.  Pat’s genuine interest in our players and their progress extends past off-season development and into the regular season where we saw Pat often at the field, encouraging and challenging the kids.  North Langley Baseball appreciates Pat’s investment in our association and we look forward to another productive Player Development Program.

I have had the pleasure of watching Grumpy work with my son and other young players here in Gibsons for the last few years. A number of players who have worked with Grumpy formed the core of our Mosquito AA team that went 16 - 1 this season in All-Star play. I believe it is a testament to Grumpy's abilities as a coach as well as his ability to get through to the kids with his larger than life persona that our kids were able to play the game so well this year - and love every minute of it - ARE YOU KIDDIN' ME !?!?.

I have also had him as an instructor during coaching clinics that I have attended and really feel that I have grown as a coach with his help. His passion for the game is obvious but he also has a unique talent to disburse technical knowledge in a fun way that sticks.

In both cases it has been a very rewarding experience to have been around Grumpy and I really hope we can continue learning from  him in years to come.
